Cub Creek Studio Handbook

After building the Ceramic Arts program at the State University of New ork at Cortland, John Jessiman left the classroom and headed south for Appomattaox, Virginia. There he purchased a 100-acre farm and antebellum mansion for the purpose of establishing the Cub Creek Foundation for the Ceramic Arts. At Cub Creek he built studios, housing, and kilns and started to provide emerging artists with an advanced educational experience. Over the past 20 years he has welcomed well over 100 emerging artists from across the United States as well as Korea, Japan, Greece, Italy, India, Brazil, Canada and France for residencies of up to two years in length. Cub Creek Studio Handbook is a must-have reference book for the ceramic artist, collector of ceramic art and educators in the ceramic arts. In addition to formulas and technical information regarding clay, glazes and kilns, the book also includes full color galleries of fine ceramic art and recipes from the author’s kitchen.

The Cub Creek Studio Handbook is now available in a beautiful, self-published, hardcover edition. The book was written by Cub Creek founder John Jessiman with layout, editing and publishing by John’s former student and studio assistant, Doug Keating.
